WHY DOES MY HAIR BREAK AFTER A PERM APPOINTMENT?

While a perm don’t actually do as much damage as a bleach would, it still inflict some sort of damage onto your hair, especially when it’s not done properly.

When you perm your hair, you’re actually breaking down the chemical bonds of your hair and restructure it. The chemicals applied to your hair are harsh and can cause more damage if it’s not done properly. The chemicals strip away moisture and protein, which makes your hair more fragile and prone to damage.

Damage also occurs when perming is done without having sufficient time between perms.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF I PERM DYED HAIR?

It is possible to perm dyed hair, but it is extremely dangerous to perm bleached hair.

When you bleach your hair, harsh chemicals are applied on your hair, causing your hair to be weaker than virgin hair. So if you want to perm your bleached hair, you’re doubling the chemicals and weaken your hair tremendously. Most salons don’t do this service as it is too much of a risk to make.

Instead, you can using heat tools to style your bleached hair to get natural curls, but make sure you apply heat protectant!
