3 Things You’ve Been Doing Wrong for Curly Hair
For ladies out there with natural or permed curls, nobody knows the pain of having long and curly hair like you do. You style your curls and they look great! You go to sleep and you wake up with frizzy and tangled hair or extremely flat curls.
And those expensive hair creams and mousse? Takes too long in the morning and leaves your hair greasy by midday.
What if we told you an easy way to keep your hair curly all day?
Why Chanamu C Leave-in Treatment Works
It is a hair serum that contains tea tree oil and chamomile flower extract, which have antibacterial properties and smells great.
Makes hair easy to style and smooth with zero residue
Restores moisture and prevents dry scalp
Protects the hair and scalp from external damage (i.e free radicals)
In this blog, we list down some hair mistakes that you may be doing without knowing. At the same time, we review the Chanamu C Leave-in Treatment and see if it lives up to its claims!
Keep reading to find out more.
Step 1 - Wash
Shampoo your Hair and Towel Dry until 80% Dry
For this step, we used our favourite shampoo, Chanamu Tea Tree Shampoo to clean our curly hair. A great shampoo for curly hair will not strip off your scalp’s natural oil which is a cause of dry and itchy scalp. It is of the same product line as the Chanamu C Leave-in Treatment, so you won’t have to go through trial and error.
This is a staple item at our DuSol Beauty Korean hair salons, because it works on any hair types, including oily and dandruff-prone hair. Gentle on sensitive scalp at a pH of 5.5 and safe for coloured hair!
You can use any shampoo of your choice, although we do recommend that you try this one to avoid a potential bad hair day.
Hair Mistake #1: Not brushing through your hair ends
You go through your usual routine of running your hands through your hands to separate tangles and hair knots.
After all, it’s widely known that wet hair is delicate and brushing it leads to breakage. That’s right! Still, if you only comb with your hands, you will still end up with tangled hair, as our fingers are not as fine as a hair brush.
It doesn’t mean you brush through your entire hair either, because it puts a strong tension on your wet hair, which also causes hair to snap. …Now what?
Solution: Comb wet hair with your hands and brush only the hair ends.
Separate hair with your hands and brush only ends while holding your hair. This way, you get out all the hair knots without tension. Avoid brushing your hair ends too many times, which will cause more split ends.
Continue to towel dry or, if you’re rushing for time, blow dry on a low heat setting to ensure that your hair does not get damaged by the hot wind.
We used John & Jack’s BLDC V7 hair dryer for this, as it has a fast drying time which saves up to 40% of the time compared to normal dryers. We also can’t recommend the Patech Air Booster Hair Dryer enough, because they are both very lightweight and quiet.
Both of these models use a BLDC (Brushless DC) motor, which does not generate carbon dust, which is very harmful for your body. The more you know.
Tip: Scrunch the ends of your hair into a ball to keep them extra bouncy.
Step 2 - Apply Chanamu C onto Scalp and Hair evenly
Pour a coin sized amount onto your palm and rub between your hands before spreading the product evenly throughout your scalp and hair.
Hair Mistake #2: Using the wrong product for your hair type
Solution: Use hair products designed to work with your hair type
Did you know that the ‘C’ in Chanamu C stands for Curling?
Although ‘S&C’, (Straightening and Curling) Leave-in Treatment are both hair serums, they have different functions to match to specific hair’s characteristics.
Chanamu C has a waxy texture in order to keep up curls for long hours, as opposed to Chanamu S that straightens hair.
Actually, we tried both S and C and Chanamu S really did not work for curly hair at all. Before you try out a new hair product, consult your hair stylist to see if it works for your hair type. Or you can check out reviews by beauty bloggers with similar hair type.
Tip: For those with hair that’s in-between straight and curly, you can try both out and see which you like best! It boils down to personal preference.
Don’t forget to apply onto your hair ends to keep them moisturised and clump free.
Hair Mistake #3: Not curling your hair as it dries.
Depending on your hair, you may just end up with hair curls that stick out like a bird’s nest.
Solution: Twirl the curls to your desired direction.
Instead, curl your hair in the direction you want, to ensure that they stay all day. We recommend you to twirl them inwards to your face, as it is a foolproof technique that fits most hairstyles and face shapes.
Step 3 - Blow Dry on Low Heat
Once you’re done applying the serum, blow dry with cold air for long lasting results. No rinse needed, just apply, leave in and you’re set!
Our final thoughts on Chanamu S&C Leave-in Treatment:
Do you think Chanamu S&C made the curls look better? We think so!
The hair ends are moisturised and curled without random flyaways. It left the hair a healthy glow and other visible results. This entire process was so simple and took less than 5 minutes to complete.
Definitely add this step to your daily hair routine to achieve effortless and heatless curls.
Of course, a hair product can only do so much. Chanamu C gives a MLBB (My Lips But Better, in this case, hair) look to enhance your natural curls. If you want a stronger and defined look, only korean digital perms can achieve that hairstyle.
For those with straight hair, why not embrace your inner beauty and rock your straight hair? But if you really want curls, you can consider our salon’s exclusive Korean Designer Perm to get natural looking curls too.
Now that you know these tips, you can enjoy better hair days everyday. Don’t forget to share them to friends who may have these hair struggles too!
